HattieS Patties™ make accurate ring sizing quick and easy!

Click here to download the PDF of these directions that you can print out and look at while making your wonderful rings using HattieS Patties™!

stepONE

Create PMC ring two sizes larger than the desired finished size to allow for shrinkage. To do this, measure actual ring size with ring sizer or decide on a finished size. Wrap HattiesS™ Ring Forming Strip™ (shiny side up) around ring mandrel at the point that is two sizes larger than the finished size and secure with a bit of tape. Slide plastic ringer sizer, that is set two sizes larger, onto the mandrel to find this point. Create the ring. You will need PMC3 clay, PMC3 paste, PMC3 syringe (optional), and a HattieS™ Tool Kit.
stepTWO

When the design creation is complete, place the ring and mandrel on HattieS™ Ring Mandrel Drying Feet™ on a heated surface to dry. This is an important step to insure that the ring dries with a uniform round shape. When completely dry, slide ring and forming strip off the mandrel. Insert a needle tool in between the forming strip and the ring and collapse the strip to remove it.
stepTHREE

Put PMC3 paste over any joints or seams on the inside of the ring to smooth and reinforce the joint. Place ring back on heat to dry. Next, put the ring on a kiln shelf and place the HattieS™ PATTIE™ of the desired finished size* in the center of the ring to control the shrinkage during firing.
stepFOUR

Fire the ring in a kiln at 1470 degrees F for 30 minutes. The organic binders will burn off and the ring shrinks tightly to the HattieS™ Pattie™ for an accurate size.
stepFIVE

Let the ring cool. Place ring and Pattie™ in a small disposable cup of water to dissolve the Pattie™. Use a needle tool or a stiff brush to help poke out the dissolving Pattie™. Rinse ring. Do NOT put dissolved Pattie™ material down the drain. Let it dry out and discard into the garbage.
stepSIX

Finish the ring as desired in a tumbler with stainless steel shot, or by hand with a steel scratch brush and a burnisher. Viola! A beautiful one-of-a-kind creation that is .999 pure silver.!
